Capabilities of CCHE3D hydrodynamic and transport model: verification

چکیده
CCHE3D model is developed at the National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering, The University of Mississippi, for simulating unsteady, free surface, three-dimensional turbulent flows and sediment/pollutant transport and water quality. This model is based on Efficient Element Method, a collocation version of the Galerkin approach. The basic element is a cube with twenty-seven nodes. Both hydrostatic and dynamic pressure of the flow can be simulated depending on the nature of the problem. Staggered grid is used for the pressure solution. The velocity correction method is adopted to compute the dynamic pressure and enforce the mass conservation. The kinematics equation for the free surface is solved to determine the location of the free surface. Five eddy viscosity models, parabolic, mixing length, k-ε, RNG k-ε and nonlinear k-ε model are available for a variety of applications.

Rivers as a main sources of supplying water for urban areas, agriculture and industry, are very important. This point reveals the necessity of the control, improvement and solving the problems of rivers, especially all problems relating to water quality. In this study, transport of the suspended sediment is numerically modeled. The Saint-Venant hydrodynamic equations and also advection-dispersi...
متن کاملArtificial Neural Network Modeling for the Management of Oil Slick Transport in the Marine Environments
Due to an increase in demand of petroleum products which are transported by vessels or exported by pipelines, oil spill management becomes a controversial issue in coastal environment safety as well as making serious financial problems. After spilling oil in the water body, oil spreads as a thin layer on the water surface. Currents, waves and wind are the main causes of oil slick transport. The...

ABSTRACT-Application of models for simulation of solute and pollutants transport in soil can reduce time and costs for remediation process. HYDRUS-1D model was developed to simulate the one–dimensional flow of soil water, heat, solute and viruses in variably saturated–unsaturated porous media. The objective of this investigation is to determine the solute transport parameters in disturbed soil ...

Development of a simple fast-solving method based on the popular Morrison approach for prediction of semi-submersibles' motion response is the main purpose of the current research. The oblique seas' hydrodynamic specifications are modeled using small amplitude wave theory. The velocity forces and moments have been shown to be small and are therefore neglected. The damping coefficients are obtai...
